Germany Arbitration 
Germany is a Contracting State to the ICSID Convention:
- Signature: 27 January 1966
- Deposit of Ratification: 18 April 1969
- Entry into Force: 18 May 1969
- Pursuant to Article 54(2) of the ICSID Convention, Germany has designated “The Landgericht with local jurisdiction over the debtor, or, in its absence, the Landgericht of the district where the property of the debtor is located or where the enforcement is to take place” as competent for the recognition and enforcement of ICSID awards.
- Pursuant to Article 69 of the ICSID Convention, Germany enacted Gesetz zu dem Ubereinkommen vom 18 März 1965 zur Beilegung von Investitionsstreitigkeiten zwischen Staaten und Angehörigen anderer Staaten vom 25 Februar 1969 (Off. Gaz. 12, Part II, March 4, 1969, p. 369) to make the Convention effective in their jurisdiction.
- Pursuant to Article 13(1) of the ICSID Convention Germany has made the following panel designations effective until 22 August 2013:

Germany is a Contracting State to the New York Convention:
- Signature: 10 June 1958
- Deposit of Ratification: 30 June 1961
- Entry into Force: 28 September 1961
- Germany will only apply the New York Convention to the recognition and enforcement of awards made in the territory of another contracting state
In 1998, Germany enacted legislation based on the UNCITRAL Model Law on International Commercial Arbitration as adopted in 1985 and is therefore now popularly considered to be an UNCITRAL Model Law State

- The Federal Republic of Germany and the German Democratic Republic were admitted to membership in the United Nations on 18 September 1973.
