Scotland (via the United Kingdom) is a Contracting State to the New York Convention:

  • Signature: 26 May 1965
  • Deposit of Ratification: 19 December 1966
  • Entry into Force: 18 January 1967
  • Pursuant to Article 54(2) of the ICSID Convention, United Kingdom has designated for Scotland, "The Court of Session” as competent for the recognition and enforcement of ICSID awards.
  • Pursuant to Article 69 of the ICSID Convention, United Kingdom enacted the Arbitration (International Investment Disputes) Act 1966 (1966 c. 41); The Arbitration (International Investment Disputes) Act 1966 (Commencement) Order 1966 (Statutory Instruments, 1966, No. 1597, December 21, 1966); The Arbitration (International Investment Disputes) Act 1966 (Application to Colonies etc.) Order 1967 (Statutory Instruments, 1967, No. 159, February 10, 1967); The Arbitration (International Investment Disputes) (Guernsey) Order 1968 (Statutory Instruments, 1968, No. 1199, July 26, 1968); The Arbitration (International Investment Disputes) (Jersey) Order 1979 (Statutory Instruments, 1979, No. 572, May 23, 1979); The Arbitration (International Investment Disputes) Act 1983 (an Act of Tynwald) to make the Convention effective in their jurisdiction.

Scotland (via the United Kingdom) is a Contracting State to the New York Convention:

  • Date of Accession: 24 September 1975
  • Entry into Force: 23 December 1975
  • Scotland will only apply the New York Convention to the recognition and enforcement of awards made in the territory of another contracting state

In 1990, Scotland enacted legislation based on the UNCITRAL Model Law on International Commercial Arbitration as adopted in 1985 and is therefore now popularly considered to be an UNCITRAL Model Law State

Scotland (via the United Kingdom) is a Contracting State to both the 1899 & 1907 Convention for the Pacific Settlement of International Disputes:
